You’ve heard it a million times—“there’s an app for that.” In fact, iPhone’s slogan has become so ubiquitous that it’s eclipsed “that’s what she said” as the hip sardonic punch line. As in, “Caught the swine flu on your birthday? There’s an app for that.”

Apple would have you believe that there’s an app for everything under the sun (and if not, you have a great joke). In fact, their website actually boasts “Apps for Everything” in print. Everything.

But, and I hope you’re sitting, what if there really isn’t an app for that?

The fact of the matter is that the App Store and its counterparts can offer you mobile applications for both novelty and function: games, weight loss assistants, movie locators, music players, and on and on. What the stores are missing, and what can only be provided through thoughtful, expert customization, is an application that helps you do your specific business.

Let’s say you’re an anesthesiologist. You go from operating table to operating table throughout the day, fully engaged in the health and well-being of your patients. Though essential, billing paperwork is the last thing you want to think about when caring for the lives of others. What if you didn’t have to go to an office to access your charges, payments, cases or bank deposits? What if that information was available securely, right in the palm of your hand?
