The Challenge

Next Generation Enrollment (NGE) approached Logic Solutions to enhance and develop their proprietary web application that provides a paperless benefit enrollment system to customers:

• Extend the web application to fill missing needs by creating a friendly user interface, file transferring protocols for payroll programs, and archival of transactions completed for each employee

• Launch the new web application quickly to adhere to a strict schedule

The Company: Next Generation Enrollment

NGE was founded in 2004 and specializes in various aspects of employee benefits administration. The company partners with various organizations to help them save time, cut costs, improve efficiency, and protect against potential HR issues. NGE is headquartered in Ada, Michigan and is a premier provider of benefits enrollment services to major corporations.

The Logic Solution

Logic tackled the challenge by improving the web application with several enhancements and new features including: User-Friendly Employee Interface, Administrative Interface/Web Portal, EDI, Company/Plan Set-Up, Reporting Module, and Imports.

Logic constructed the User-Friendly Employee Interface to streamline the employee self-enrollment process. It is based on a .Net framework.

In addition, Logic also designed the Administrative Interface/Web Portal that allows administrators to easily mange and edit new employee accounts. Logic added an alerts system to notify the admin of any changes an employee made in the system and to automatically carry out specific functions. Users may choose a preferred interface.

Enabled EDI functionality allows users to create and transfer EDI files for specific insurance carriers.

The modernized Company/Plan Set-Up section simplifies making plans and departments, tracking, and system management processes.

Logic completely overhauled the Report Module to provide a comprehensive reporting system. Admins can run reports on any database field in a number of different specified formants, custom save reports, and schedule automatic emailing of reports to specific recipients. This feature also includes a special report function that permits only admins and executives to see all changes made within a certain time period.

The Imports function now allows admins to import/update mass employee information and employee elections data.

Logic’s experts employed the following technologies while completing projects: MS Windows Server 2003 R2, MS SQL Server 2005, IIS 6.0, .NET Framework 2.0, Crystal Reports, Spring.NET, Nhibernate, Log4NET, Nunit, Nhibernate.
