Oklahoma native and Software Implementation Engineer Brandon Tarr recently joined the team at Logic Systems Engineering. He will provide implementation, integration, and technical support to Logic’s Clippership software customers.

Brandon is a graduate of Northeastern State University of Oklahoma, with a Bachelor of Business Administration.  He is currently pursuing his MBA in Technology Management through the University of Phoenix.  When not studying, Brandon loves playing MMO Star Wars and Call of Duty.  He’s also an outdoorsman, enjoying target shooting, fishing, hunting, and boating.  If that’s not enough, he plays the guitar and sings, to boot!

Ling Sun is the newest Senior Technical Lead at Logic Solutions, based at our California office.  She will provide critical leadership to multiple software development projects, working directly with engineers, developers, and members of the sales team.

Ling obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science from Jiao Tong University (see below!) in Shanghai.  She currently lives in Mission Viejo, and enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her two children.

Maui Jim Sunglasses--A Showcase App

Maui Jim is the fastest growing premium polarized sunglass maker in the world, and the latest company to streamline sales with Showcase.  

After developing lens technology that combats intense glare and harmful UV while bringing brilliant colors to life, Maui Jim has amassed what can only be called a cult eyewear following.  Their colossal U.S. customer base keeps up with the newest high-performance designs through the hard work of more than 100 Maui Jim domestic sales reps, who travel around the country selling to thousands of sunglass retailers. 

Maui Jim’s Showcase system accesses a customer database in addition to product records, allowing reps to drive sales by consumers rather than by merchandise.  Users can easily access returning buyer contact information, street and shipping addresses, and credit info.  Though the product catalog is available without selecting a customer, a user will choose a client before placing orders.

The product catalog contains hundreds of SKUs, many with multiple variations.  Once selected, a sales rep can display Maui Jim’s striking product imagery (with alternate attributes), full product descriptions, and prices.  

The Current Orders screen features all ordered products with SKUs, names and short descriptions, price, quantity, existing inventory, and preferred shipping method.  To complete a transaction, a sales rep enters the date (editable to allow for post-dated orders), PO number (if applicable), and taps “Save Order” to electronically send the request to corporate for fulfillment.  If the rep does not have internet connectivity, the order will be saved to the iPad for transmission at the next sync.

Rather than starting an order from the catalog, Maui Jim requested a Quick Order module, which displays all products. From this screen a sales rep can look up products by SKU, type in quantities, and make the purchase. 

Finally, the Inventory option allows reps to take inventory in a particular store, compare that to what the customer has previously ordered, and automatically make a suggested purchase. Inventory at the manufacturer level is also reported in the catalog to inform reps when items are out of stock.

An instant success among U.S. users, Maui Jim has requested further product enhancements, including 360-degree product views and additional language support for a global sales force of 300+.  We are delighted that Maui Jim has welcomed Logic into their ohana, and look forward to maintaining the spirit of Aloha!

Jimmy was asked to speak to students at Shanghai Jiao Tong University as part of the Zhiyuan Distinguished Lecture Interdisciplinary Seminar Series.  He presented “Steve Jobs’ Impact on my Business Philosophy” to students in the university’s entrepreneurship program.

The University of Michigan offers a joint program with SJTU, with 1,000 participating students, 200 who are in our home of Ann Arbor.  We look forward to meeting more of these young, talented people right in our own back yard.
