  Logical Additions

Last month, we introduced you to three new employees hired to the business development and tech teams. Since then, four additional recruits have been brought on to support our growth. Consult our Careers page or send us an email if you or someone you know is interested in working for Logic!

Joy_XuJoy Xu joins Logic as a Tech Lead. She was born and raised in Shanghai, and went to college on scholarship in Hong Kong where she later joined Razorfish as a senior developer. She arrived in Ann Arbor in 2010 to earn a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering Systems from the University of Michigan.

Joy loves traveling for pleasure and her recently adopted hobbies include wooden puzzle making and cooking. In high school, she ran track and field, but now she only plays Kinect Sports.

Sean_HackerSean Hacker is the first of two new Technical Interns. Sean hails from Oakland Township, MI but has called Ann Arbor home for the past couple years. In the fall, he will be a junior at the University of Michigan studying Mathematics and Computer Science. He's excited to discover how what he has learned in the classroom can be applied in the real world.

As long as it isn't raining, Sean likes to take his motorcycle out for a spin outside of the city. He played lacrosse in high school and still enjoys playing whenever he gets the opportunity. He also enjoys playing football, soccer, or softball in the park with friends.

Cammy_Lo

Cammie Lo also joins Logic as a Technical Intern, supporting the Tech Team's project from an HR perspective. She is a current graduate student in Human Resource and Organizational Development at Eastern Michigan University.

Cammie resides in Ypsilanti and stays active with traveling. Last year, she traveled to Taiwan, Canada and Paris. This year, she is excited to spend her summer at Logic.

Peter_KimPeter Kim is Logic's new Graphic Design and Video Assistant. Originally from Chicago, Peter graduated from the University of Michigan Art and Design program last Spring.  His expertise includes graphic design, animation, photography, and video.

Despite his thin frame (Ed: his words), Peter played linebacker among other positions in high school football. He enjoys sports and electronics, and his hobbies include listening to and producing music ("fake DJing" he says), eclectic art forms, and media. He is currently documenting the longboard skateboarding scene in Michigan.

  MMI Custom Quote Configurator

mmiMMI Engineered Solutions specializes in designing, tooling and molding solutions using advanced composites and engineered resins. Their need for a dynamic custom quote configurator and industrial-strength website made them a perfect match for the information architects and web application experts at Logic.

The custom quote configurator for online users enables them to request prices for MMI products. After a user securely signs in, a logo associated with their company will be displayed on the configurator page. The user has 11 fields to complete; as criteria are selected, the secondary choices change dynamically based on the previously elected data.

The configurator displays a preview image of each attribute as the user selects his or her options. Once the user has completed criteria selection, a 3D rendering is displayed. The user is also be able to view past orders to streamline the process.

What's Up With Jimmy and Celebrations

Jimmy_stagecropOn May 3, Jimmy accepted Logic's Michigan 50 Companies to Watch award and a commemoration from Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.

Governor Snyder wrote: "Recipients of the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch award embody the vision, leadership, determination, and entrepreneurship that are critical to transforming our economy, preserving and improving the quality of life for our citizens and reinventing our Great Lakes State."

The awards program was sponsored by the Edward Lowe Foundation and presented by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.

Later in the month, several Logicians attended APACC's (Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce) annual gala, themed "East and West: The Sun Never Sets."

The event took place at The Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, and included emcee Andrew Humphrey, meteorologist for WDIV, and keynote speaker Manoj Bhargava, founder and CEO of 5-Hour Energy.

Finally, congratulations to Tech Lead Fangze Chen and Director of Marketing Angela Kujava on their win in Logic's Wii bowling tournament.  The duos were paired by random draw, and Fangze and Angela out-bowled nine other teams in the double elimination challenge.

Early favorites Louie Davis (also in the Marketing Department) and Mike Huegli (Business Development) lost a heart-breaking second round game to ringers Samira Bayram and Megan Lu (both in Accounting), but clawed their way back to the championship by beating every other team, including a rematch with Samira and Megan.

To add insult to injury, after Fangze and Angela sustained a first loss agains the comeback kids, they beat Louie and Mike's high score of 181 in the final game, winning 212-168.  Not that anyone is counting.

Our Sales Series: Get More Face-To-Face Time

stuart-smalley_rodentOur most recent blog post discusses why relationships are the single most important factor in most B2B sales conversions. Eight out of 10 sales are rapport-based, face-to-face conversions. Selling yourself is usually more vital to a sale than the value of your company's products or services.

Therefore, as far as sales revenue is concerned, nothing is more valuable than the time you spend in front of your clients and prospects. Face-to-face interaction is pivotal, but it can also be hard to come by when outside sales reps are bogged down with administrative tasks, paperwork, and other redundant activities.

Rather than actively shaking hands and selling in the field, field reps are wasting too much energy on multi-tasking (data-entry and processing, preparing presentations, juggling print materials, etc.). These diversions--which can be easily automated--severely limit face-to-face interaction and slow down the sales cycle, with big implications on revenue.
