University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools (RAHS) provides services for youth ages 0-21, their families, and communities with school-based health programs and clinical services in an easily accessible, supportive, and youth-friendly environment. RAHS has six school-based health centers in three public school districts throughout the Washtenaw Country area. UMHS RAHS’ high-quality physical, emotional, and preventive healthcare services range from immunizations, nutrition and fitness, physicals, acute visits, psychotherapy, STI, and pregnancy testing, to depression support, vision and dental care, LGBTQ health, and insurance enrollment, and education.
Because of the organization’s focus on youth, it was important that UMHS RAHS’ website be easily accessible and searchable by their school-aged through 21 years-old audience. Their old website was not mobile friendly, information about the breadth of their offerings wasn’t easy to find, and services provided by each individual health center wasn’t comprehensive enough. RAHS’ staff wanted a new, youth-friendly and energizing site that could resonate and connect with local youth.
Logic Solutions designed the new site in WordPress. In addition to being responsive and mobile-friendly, the new design also uses large, beautiful youth-focused imagery while still keeping in University of Michigan branding requirements. The reorganized navigation now features a structured mega menu that improves usability and clear calls-to-action are used throughout the site to encourage visitors to contact RAHS staff for assistance. The site also has a repository of health registration and consent forms and community resources available.
Other new features on RAHS’ redesigned website include:
- Health center locator plugin that allows visitors to search for the nearest health center by city or zip code
- Prominent success stories of children who have benefitted from RAHS
- Beautiful photos of RAHS administrators and staff members at all health centers
